Estimates of what stores pay the owner of the recording, before the distributor's share, from per-stream figures checked on 29 October 2026. No store pays a fixed rate per stream; the country, free or paid accounts and the month all move it. Songwriting royalties are paid separately.

How it works

  • Streams in, money out

Each store's estimated payout per stream, from three published studies, times your monthly streams.

  • A range, not a promise

Stores share their revenue rather than paying a fixed rate, so where people listen and whether they pay moves the figure. You see the low, typical and high end.

  • What you actually keep

Your distributor's share comes off the top, and Spotify pays nothing on tracks under 1,000 streams a year. Both are in the result.

Questions

How much does Spotify pay per stream?
There is no fixed rate. Published estimates for 2024 to 2026 put Spotify at roughly $0.0022 to $0.005 per stream paid to the owner of the recording, with about $0.003 typical for independent music (Duetti's 2024 figures). Spotify shares its revenue in each country, so the amount per stream changes with where people listen, free or Premium accounts, and the month.
Why does Spotify pay nothing on some of my tracks?
Since April 2024 a track has to reach 1,000 streams in the previous 12 months, and a minimum number of unique listeners, before it earns recording royalties on Spotify. The calculator warns you when your tracks average fewer than that.
Is this the amount I get paid?
It estimates what the stores pay the owner of the recording. Your distributor keeps its share, if it takes one, before paying you. Songwriting royalties are separate and come through collecting societies and publishers.
Which store pays the most per stream?
In the published figures TIDAL, Amazon Music and Apple Music pay more per stream than Spotify and YouTube Music. Spotify usually brings the most streams, so it is often still the biggest line on a statement.
