Questions
- How far ahead should I send a release to my distributor?
- About four weeks. Stores need a release roughly three weeks ahead to consider it for their editorial playlists, and Spotify for Artists takes pitches up to seven days before release day; earlier is better.
- Why do releases come out on Fridays?
- Since 2015 new music has been released worldwide on Fridays, the day the stores refresh their new-release playlists.
- What if my release day is less than three weeks away?
- You can still release. You miss the window for editorial playlist pitches, so lean on your own audience, the smart link and your posts.
- Is anything I type sent to you?
- No. The plan and the calendar file are made in your browser. Only if you ask for the email do we get your address and the release day.
